Rooster Walk Music Festival was created in memory of two Martinsville, Virginia natives, Edwin “The Rooster” Penn and Walter Shank, who passed away in 2007 and 2008. The festival celebrates their lives with a community gathering that brings to Martinsville bluegrass, soul, and gospel artists each May for a weekend of laid-back vibes, music workshops, art, and a 5K run that benefits the Penn-Shank Memorial Scholarship Fund at Martinsville High School.
